Natural Oil-Based Soaps
When creating my soaps, I use only natural ingredients*. You will find no artificial fragrances—only essential oils and, in some bars, extra nutrients are added. I use only vegetable oils, which allow your skin to breath.
My Natural Soaps are perfect for use at home, as gifts, and are ideal for inns, bed & breakfasts or hotels!
Basic Ingredients: Olive Oil, Distilled Water, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Grapefruit Seed Extract.
Other Ingredients: Natural nutrients and Pure Essential Oils.
*All ingredients save one: sodium hydroxide, which is necessary for the whole process to take place.
Olive Oil: grade A olive oil is used, which is good for rheumatic conditions and inflamed skin. Olive oil attracts and keeps in moisture as it creates a breathable film, letting your skin perform its normal functions. It also has its own healing properties.
Coconut Oil: great for a quality lather and known for its moisturizing properties. Coconut oil makes a nice, hard bar and resists rancidity.
Palm Oil: also makes a nice, hard bar of soap. It produces a slow, small lather, and makes the bar less likely to “melt” in water. This is the oil I use in place of tallow, which can clog your skin pores.
Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH): used in the cold-process method. This caustic alkali’s role is the base (the oils make up the acid). I use distilled water as a solvent to help the NaOH come in contact with as many neutral oil molecules as possible for maximum interaction.
Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE): a natural preservative and extremely reliable antioxidant. GSE contains vitamin C and glycerin. It is an antibacterial, astringent, antiseptic, and is deodorizing.
